A closer look at all the league tables reveals some interesting trends. After last Sunday’s performances there is nothing to separate the top five teams in the ladies’ club. Lucy Golden’s team is the only team to have had podium finishes in the opening two rounds and at this stage is the slight favourite to take title on the January 17. Although, the match-play stages in the gents’ competition have being extended to 16 teams, the projected minimum required to reach the final stages, will be an average of 48pts for each of the four qualifying rounds.
Conditions were slightly more difficult on Sunday last but as ever there were some notable performances. Former lady captain Mary McNicholas featured in eight holes in her team’s winning performance while Sean Kelly playing off (12 ) had four birdies in five holes on the back nine.
