A Castlebar man was convicted and fined €150 at Ballina District Court this week for dangerous overtaking in his mini bus.
Cormac Moran, Lochain, Drimeen, Castlebar was driving in front of Garda John Flanagan on Saturday May 23 at 1.55pm at Drumreevagh, the main road into Ballina from the Foxford direction.
The defendant was observed overtaking a car which had pulled in left and, while overtaking, he crossed the marked intersection. A fixed charge notice was issued but was not paid.
According to defence solicitor Neil McCole, the defendant had sent a cheque to pay the fine but the time to pay the fine had lapsed.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Moran.
