Information evening at the IiBC Centre, GMIT

An information evening will be being held on Thursday November 26 in the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC ) at Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT ) Castlebar from 5pm to 8pm. People are welcome to call in at any time.

This innovation centre is for individuals with an innovative business idea who are interested in starting their own businesses. The IiBC helps individuals get started by offering low cost office space, business development support, mentoring and networking. The IiBC also runs a one year enterprise programme called The Midlands and West Enterprise Programme (MWEP ). This programme gives individuals the business development and financial supports they need to start their own business.

Twenty start-up companies have joined the IiBC at GMIT Castlebar since its official opening in March 2006. The majority of the companies located at the IiBC are in the areas of software and services. The IiBC has also recently introduced virtual/remote incubation which enables people who are either working full-time and looking at doing some research into their new start-up venture or those who live a considerable distance from the Innovation Centre to be able to access the supports and facilities that are in the centre.

The IiBC had its first High Potential Start-Up (HPSU ) client in September 2009. Enterprise Ireland's HPSU strategy is designed to support new business ideas with high growth and high export potential.

The Innovation in Business Centre is located on the grounds of the GMIT Castlebar Campus, behind the Mayo Education Centre. One-to-one meetings can be arranged in the strictest confidence at a time convenient to the potential client.
