GAA Round Up

Kiltimagh claimed the Connacht Junior Championship in Charlestown on Sunday afternoon after a hard fought 0-11 to 0-10 win over An Spidéal from Galway after extra time. In the club's 121st year it was Adrian Forkan who was the hero for Mick Regan's men, Forkan landed a point from over 40 yards out to seal the win for the east Mayo men. Kiltimagh looked to have the game under control early on and led by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break, but the Galway men came back at them and Brian Gallagher had to score a late point to level the game up at 0-9 each at the end of normal time.

Westport made their way into the Connacht Intermediate Championship final on Sunday in McHale Park with a 2-12 to 0-10 win over Greevagh from Sligo. The Mayo champions were always in control and lead at the break by 0-8 to 0-4. The game which was called off last week due to an unplayable pitch had to be moved to Castlebar earlier in the weekend, and Martin Connelly's men luck on the field which they won the Mayo title a few weeks earlier held firm for them on Sunday.

In the senior relegation play off in Mayo on Sunday Ballinrobe retained their senior status thanks to a 2-8 to 0-8 win over Burrishoole in Clogher, the south Mayo mens six point win means Burrishoole drop down to intermediate football for next year.

In the ladies All Ireland semi-final's, the 2008 All Ireland champions Carnacon surrendered their title when they went down by by 2-6 to 1-8 to Cork champions Donoughmore in Cork.
