FG councillors engage with Castlebar resident groups

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny TD has congratulated the Fine Gael members of Castlebar Town Council for their efforts in assisting the establishment of new resident groups. They are also meeting with existing resident groups to discuss any concerns that they may have. As with any resident groups, the local Garda Superintendent William Keaveney will attend a meeting with the groups and assign a garda liaison to each particular housing estate.

Any person wishing to establish a residents’ group or any existing group that wishes to hold such a meeting can contact any of the Fine Gael town councillors. Their contact details are Cllr Ger Deere (087 772 4419 ); Cllr Brendan Henaghan (086 811 4878 ); Cllr Noreen Heston (086 353 7943 ); and Cllr Eugene McCormack (086 810 1426 ).

“This is a very effective method of local councillors engaging with the areas that they serve,” Dep Kenny said. “It also helps to clarify the real issues that need to be addressed by local government. I hope that this approach will continue to prove very successful. I have received substantial feedback from some residents involved in the residents groups that organised such meetings and were very impressed with the outcomes and plans that have been formulated.”
