Mayo County Library is delighted to launch a joint project with FÁS to offer learning opportunities for adults in three libraries: Castlebar, Ballina, and Swinford. The project provides a range of online courses, which can be accessed in the library or from home, supported by a facilitator who will be available in the participating libraries. The courses will help people gain new computer skills and build on existing skills.
The programme is open to everyone over 18 and is free of charge. It will benefit those who are new to computers and those who wish to update their skills through workshops and the use of online courseware. Facilitators will provide support and guidance at the learner’s own pace. Once learners have reached a level where they can pursue the courses without the need of a facilitator, they can do so on any computer with an internet connection, for instance, in any of the 14 libraries in Mayo that provide internet access.
Workshops will cover introduction to computers, internet and e-mail. Courses including ECDL, Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, will be supported by a facilitator.
Participants can also access additional online courses including introduction to project management, effective administration skills, book-keeping, digital media, practical budgeting skills for business, and finance fundamentals.
