Man kicked door of nightclub

A 22-year-old man from Castlebar who kicked the door of Mantra nightclub — in order to get in to seek out the person who had assaulted his sister— was before Castlebar District Court this week.

Garda Fergal O’Gara outlined that on May 10 this year at 2.40am, Cathal Foy, Shunnagh Park, Castlebar, was observed acting in an aggressive manner kicking the front door of the club on New Antrim Street and was also aggressive to gardaí telling them that they were useless at their job and couldn’t do it properly. This related to an incident early in the night where the defendant’s sister was struck in the face and Foy believed that the gardaí were failing to follow up on what had happened.

According to solicitor Rory O’Connor, Foy was trying to get back into the club to seek out the person he believed had assaulted his sister.

Foy, who has five previous convictions was given the Probation Act by Judge Mary Devins.
