Ballinrobe Musical Society tie-up premier sponsorship deal with Irish Pride

Ballinrobe Musical Society, who perform the world amateur premiere of the story of Mayo’s own Granuaile next February, have announced a major sponsorship deal with Irish Pride. Irish Pride, one of the country’s leading bread brands, has a long and proud association with Ballinrobe, as the company is a major employer in the region thanks to their local bakery on the town’s Abbey Street.

“We are delighted that a company like Irish Pride, who are so strong nationally while also meaning so much to the people of this region, have agreed to come on board as the premier sponsors of our production of The Pirate Queen. We are very excited about bringing the story of Mayo’s own pirate queen to a local audience,” said society chairman Pat McGovern. “Irish Pride’s sponsorship is a real vindication of our efforts over the years, and also gives us a huge boost as we take on the task of staging the world amateur premiere of a show created by Riverdance creators John McColgan and Moya Doherty.”

The Pirate Queen features music by Alan Boublil and Claude Michel Shönberg, who penned such classics as Lés Miserábles and Miss Saigon. Ballinrobe Musical Society, boasting a musical tradition stretching back to 1944, have been the recipients of many awards in recent years, and it was this commitment to excellence which attracted Irish Pride’s support. “The reputation of Ballinrobe Musical Society spreads far and wide, and when they approached us about becoming involved, we believed it was a great opportunity for us to support a vibrant community organisation,” said Claire McTigue, marketing manager, Irish Pride Bakeries.
