Last weekend’s stroke play competition saw Mary Gillarad top the ladies’ section with a score of 35; in second place was Marie Flanagan who shot 33 (back nine ) the same score as third place Carmel Henry who also shot 33 (back nine ). The men’s competition was won by David Martin who scored 38 (back nine ), with Vincent Irwin coming home in second place with a 38. Martin Moylette came third with a 37 (back nine ) and the youth’s prize went to Simon Smith with a 21.

Ballyhaunis

Paul Finnegan won out in the junior section of the competition with a score of 35 points playing off 18. The ladies’ was won by Norrie Dillon who scored 39 points six ahead of second placed Mary F Cleary on 33 points, who finished one ahead of Kung Fanning on 32 points in third. The men’s competition was won by Pat Curley whose 36 point total was enough to keep him one a head of second placed Michael Lyons on 35 points. Anthony McNicholas finished third on 34 points.

The club will hold a fancy dress Halloween party on October 30 at 9pm, entry is €5 and is open to all.

Claremorris

Martin Devaney was the winner last weekend scoring 39 points, with Tom Fanning winning the Cat 1 prize with 38pts, Eoin McEvoy won the Cat 2 with 39pts and Peter Hynes took the Cat 3 prize with 38 pts. The ladies’ competition was won by Mary Walsh with 39pts, Audrey Holian came second with 38pts the same score as third placed Marie Healy. The nine hole competition was won by Claire Prenty with 19pts. Claremorris Golf Club open weekend will take place this weekend Saturday October 24 and Sunday 25. There will be a ladies’ and gents’ 18 hole single stableford visitors, entry costs €15 and members €7.
