Balla mart report

On Saturday October 10 Balla Mart held its usual cattle sale. There were 950 cattle on offer, sold in three rings.There was a good trade and on average prices were up €10 to €20 on last week with more farmers buying.

Bullocks averaged from €127.93 to €150.79 p/100kg while heifers averaged from €142.58 to €155.29.

There were some excellent prices paid for example a BBX Bullock 680kg which made €1,160 and a LMX heifer 365kg at €770 ie €2.10 p/kg.

There were 120 cows on offer and one good BB springer due January who made €1,840.

On Tuesday October 6 Balla Mart held a special weanling sale with prizes for the best priced bull and heifer sold per kg. There was 800 weanlings on offer. Quality weanlings were a very good trade with exporters and some local farmers buying.

Bull weanlings averaged from €157.17 to €188.40 p/100kg while heifers averaged from €147.50 to €156.45.

There were some excellent prices paid for example a chX bull 285kg which made €915, ie; 3.21p/kg and a BBx 350kg bull which made €1,110.
