Minister for Labour Affairs Dara Calleary has welcomed the additional allocation of €663,750 to Mayo County Council for the controversial Housing Adaptation Grant Schemes for Older People and People with a Disability.
“This is an additional allocation of funding for Mayo County Council, bringing the overall level to over €3.3 million this year, and will go some way towards meeting the huge demand for what has proven a very beneficial scheme for older people and people with a disability.
“This level of funding demonstrates the Government’s ongoing commitment to improving the housing conditions of older people and people with a disability,” said Minister Calleary.
“My office has handled hundreds of applications and the many people who have been approved the grant will now shortly receive their payments while approval for other applications should now be possible,” advised Minister Calleary.
