Judge Mary Devins adjourned a case against a 69-year-old retired man who was detected driving a car without insurance, driving licence, tax, or NCT to hear evidence from the owner of the car. Garda Shane Cuffe told the court that he stopped Tom Leneghan, 12 Station Rise, Ballyhaunis, driving a car on the Knock Road, Ballyhaunis, at 4.05pm on May 11 2009. The court was told that Leneghan was a 69-year-old retired man who helped out a cattle dealer friend and never drove himself. He had got a call from the owner of the car to come and help him as there was a cow stuck in a drain and he told him to take the car. Judge Mary Devins adjourned the case until November 3 so she could hear evidence from the owner of the car.
