Tuam woman drove drunk when coming from funeral

A mother of four, who while coming home from a funeral in Westport was detected drink driving was disqualified from driving at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.

On May 4 this year at 2.43am Theresa McDaid, Lenamore, Tuam, was observed driving erratically by gardaí at the Cathal Duffy roundabout in Castlebar. McDaid was stopped and failed a roadside breath test. A subsequent blood sample given at Castlebar Garda station showed a concentration of 190mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood.

The defendant, who is a single mother and works in a pharmacy in Tuam, was convicted and fined €700 by Judge Mary Devins and disqualified from driving for three years.
