A 29-year-old man who was bare chested outside a bar in Castlebar and failed to leave the scene after being directed by a garda was convicted and fined of the public order offence at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.
Garda John Paul Dunning was called to a disturbance outside Nelly’s bar on June 15 at 4.45pm. Kieran Collins, 50 Castlegrove, Castlebar, was observed to be shirtless and his knuckles were bloody on his right hand. There were two other men in the vicinity. Garda Dunning directed Collins to leave the area. The defendant moved a short distance but refused to leave.
Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Collins, who had three previous convictions, €250.
