Following the success of last year, a photography competition has been organised by St Colman’s Care Centre for the 2011 Achill Calendar.
The theme for the competition is Onshore and Offshore, Silence and Sounds, and the photograph can be taken anywhere in the Achill parish. The competition is open to all amateur photographers. An independent panel of judges with specialist knowledge and experience of photography will chose the winners in each category.
First prize will be €500 cash. Other prizes will include a €250 voucher for photography equipment, a digital camera, and small non-cash prizes for runners up. An additional non-cash prize will also be awarded to the top entry received from participants under 16 years. One further separate prize of €100 will be awarded for the most original photograph relating to St Colman’s Care Centre.
