Keith Martin, who was disqualified from Westport Town Council earlier this month for a delay in submitting his election expenditure, is awaiting a date for a Circuit Court hearing in Castlebar into this disqualification and is also requesting the Labour branch compile a shortlist of candidates for co-option “in the event that I am legally unable to retake my seat or unable to retake my seat for personal reasons”.
Westport Town Council has written to the general secretary of the Labour Party informing them of the disqualification of Mr Martin and the town council also requested that the Labour Party provide a nominee for co-option to the council to fill Mr Martin’s vacant seat.
