Work finally starts on Davitt College hall

A 30 year wait came to an end at Davitt College in Castlebar last Friday when work finally commenced on the school’s new sports hall.

The €2 million facility, to be named after the late Davitt College principal and VEC chief executive, Joe Langan, is expected to be completed next April, and will be the culmination of a long campaign to have the facility provided at the school.

Present for the start of the contract was Beverley Flynn, TD who has campaigned for the facility over several years. “The Davitt College sports hall has been a priority of mine since I was first elected to Dáil Éireann, and I am delighted to be here today to see construction finally begin,” Deputy Flynn said.
