A 20-year-old man was convicted and fined for not having a NCT and having a bald tyre in Claremorris District Court this week. Michael Quigley, Garryedmond, Brickens, Claremorris, was stopped by Garda Brian Guerin at Clare, Claremorris on April 23 2009. Quigley had no NCT displayed on the car and it had not been put through the test. He also had a bald tyre with no tread on it. The court was told that Quigley had since put the car through the NCT and it had failed, but he had an appointment for a retest in October and he changed the tyre after being stopped. For having no NCT he was convicted and fined €160 and for having a bald tyre he was convicted and fined €100, while the non display of a NCT was taken into consideration.
