Driving disqualification for Castlebar man

A 19-year-old BMW driver who holds a provisional driving licence was disqualified from driving for two years at Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.

Garda James O'Reilly stopped John Kelly, 25 Chestnut Grove, Castlebar, on November 5 2008 at 2.30pm in the Chestnut Grove area. Kelly, who held a provisional licence had no L plates displayed, no NCT, and no insurance.

Kelly, who was not in court nor represented, has previous road traffic convictions.

Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined Kelly €1,000 for not having insurance; disqualified him from driving for two years; €100 for failing to produce insurance; €170 for not having an NCT; and €100 for not having L plates displayed.
