A Brazilian native who pleaded guilty to two charges under the Immigration Act has been given a month to leave the country or he will have a conviction issued against him, and will be deported, was given a month to get together enough money to fly home at Claremorris District Court this week.
Adenilton Diasrosa, 84 French Park, Oranmore, Galway, was stopped by gardaí at a check point in Carramore, Knock, on July 31 2009. When he was asked to produce his passport or immigration card he told gardaí that he had a passport at home and would produce it in Galway where he lived. A friend of his produced the passport at a Galway Garda station and a fax copy of it was sent to the gardaí in Claremorris. Following further investigations it was discovered that Diasrosa entered Ireland in 2007 on a holiday visa and had overstayed it.
Solicitor for Diasrosa, Cathy McDarby told the court that her client was happy to leave the country voluntarily so he would not have a conviction recorded against him, but he needed a month to get together enough money to buy a ticket home. Judge Mary Devins adjourned the case until October 16 and warned Diasrosa that if he had not left the country and the gardaí could not verify his departure, he would have to face the consequences.
