Research assistants needed

Artist Aileen Lambert is currently rambling around various highways and byways in the Knock, Ballindine, and Ballyhaunis areas of the county as part of her research for a new public art project commissioned by Mayo County Council and is looking for people to assist her in her research; she is particularly interested in speaking with people who have local knowledge of old walking paths and routes in the area.

With this information Lambert will create sound-maps featuring audio recordings of the place, people and stories connected with each route. These sound-maps will be available to download for free on the En Route website, and will also be distributed on CD, available from Mayo County Council’s arts department. Each of these sound-maps will relate to a particular route, and will be designed to be listened to while travelling along or close by that route.

Lambert would be delighted to speak with anyone who can offer assistance, from individuals through to clubs and associations such as scouts, gun clubs and active retirement groups. For more information see the website www.enroute.ie You can contact Aileen directly on 087 755 2593, or 053 925 6885, or [email protected] Alternatively, you can post a message on the website.
