Suspended sentenced for women who stole from Dunnes

Two women who removed two polo necks and a pair of shoes from Dunnes Stores, Ballina, were given suspended sentences at Ballina District Court this week.

Ann McDonagh (27 ), 27 Castle Grove, Castlebar and Tina McDonagh (19 ), 56 An Sruthain, Castlebar entered Dunnes Stores on November 29 last year, where they removed the items before hiding them in a pram and left the store.

They were followed by staff and when they were brought back into the store they were observed trying to discard the items.

Tina McDonagh, who has four previous convictions, was convicted and fined €500 by Judge Mary Devins and sentenced to prison for three months, suspended for 12 months. Ann McDonagh, who has two previous convictions, was convicted and fined €300 and sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months.
