Ballyhaunis bypass one step from adoption

A route has been identified for the long awaited N60/N83 Ballyhaunis outer bypass, a meeting of the Claremorris electoral area committee was told this week.

The route, called C1, has lessened the environmental impact on the Cutover Bog at Hazelhill and the Esker Complex at Devlis, Ms Marian McHugh, SEE with the National Roads Design Office, told committee members on Wednesday.

Public consultation was carried out in February and 134 people attended, following which three submissions were made. The route selection report has been forwarded to the National Roads Authority for review by their inspectors and once it is approved by them it will come before the councillors for adoption.
