September season in full swing at the museum

Invitation to participate in Christmas Food Fair

The museum staff are presently busy organising a Christmas food fair for Saturday December 13 from 11am to 5pm in the grounds of the Museum. The Education and Outreach Department will also run a number of public events on that day (e.g workshops in making decorations, gift wrapping, etc. ). If you are a food producer and would like further information please contact the mueseum as soon as possible.

Shoeing the Wheel

Get an opportunity to see Tom Cunnane re-shoe the wheels on the 2005 cart-building project in the grounds of the museum this coming Saturday September 14 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

Harvest knots workshop

Harvest knots were traditionally given as a love token. Make your own with Aoife O’Toole of the Education and Outreach Department, from 3.30pm to 4.30pm on Thursday September 18.

The Knitting Circle

Exchange patterns, learn new techniques, bring along your knitting and join in in the education room, on Friday September 19 from 11am to 1pm.

Féile na Feilte workshop and demonstration

Join feltmakers Ireland for a day of feltmaking at the National Museum of Ireland Country Life. Demonstrations of various flelt making techniques and styles taking place every hour from 10am to 4pm. No booking required. Feltmaking workshops will take place from 11.30am to 1pm and from 2.30pm to 4pm. All materials are provided. Book early to secure your place. This event will take place on Saturday September 20.

Pilot Community Project

Calling on community groups who are already involved in or are interested in creating a community archive working with the National Museum of Ireland Country Life. This is a unique opportunity to work on an intergenerational group community archive project. The project will involve getting photographs or records relating to your area with NMI support in organising and publishing your community photographs, oral recordings and any other information that you may have.
