Finbar Hoban Presents Walter Mitty and the Realists, The Rumours with Inverter live at Bar Ritz next Saturday night September 20. A refreshingly uncompromising and intensely captivating sound, delivered with uncontained semi-psychotic live energy. Or maybe it’s just because they are good! Word of the Mitty Boys has spread quickly since their incarnation in late 2006. Their constant gigging has seen them share stages with many indie rock luminaries. Including the likes of UK giants Dirty Pretty Things and Icelands favourite electronic shoe-gazers MUM. Hotpress magazine has described them as "Talking Heads meets the Rapture", the Irish Independent says "These guys are essential viewing" .
They will be supported by Tipperary based alternative rock group The Rumours, their sound ranges from soft acoustic melodies and rhythms combining to produce powerful, intimate and captivating songs. One of the band’s highlights of 2006 arrived when they took to the stage to a rapturous crowd at the Electric Picnic Stradbally,Co. Laois, sharing the same stage as Polly Harvey, Graham Coxon and Josh Ritter. Hard work and dedication paid off for The Rumours in November 2006 when they managed to sign on to legendary Irish independent record label Reekus Records. On July 21 2007 The Rumours peaked at No 2 in the Irish Download Chart. These two groups will be supported by local Castlebar band Inverter and they will kick off the show at 9pm. The hardest-working DJ in Castlebar, Finbar Hoban will complete the evening’s entertainment spinning new tracks from the likes of The New Formidable Crystal Castles, Brendan Canning & Ra RA RIOT!
plus some old classics from "My Bloody Valentine and Pop will Eat Itself.
