Ragball challenge for trip to Munich Beer Festival

A new and exciting European cup competition for amateur seven-a-side soccer and six-a-side mixed tag rugby teams will kick off in 18 floodlit astro-turf sports venues around Ireland commencing on Wednesday September 24 from 8pm to 10pm and will continue every Wednesday night.

The competition for both sports is called the RagBall Accumulator, a unique league system where teams involved in the soccer section are split into two categories—platinum for teams and players registered and playing in other leagues and gold for recreational players not playing with other teams. Each category will have eight teams playing in a division. The RagBall Accumulator also applies to the mixed tag rugby section with just two categories, platinum for experienced teams and gold for novice teams.

Teams in each category will be divided into divisions containing eight teams, playing each other weekly, twice in the autumn league, twice in the winter league and once in the spring league. At the end of the three leagues, accumulator points will be totalled and the teams with the highest number of accumulator points in each division will play off in regional finals.

Five winning teams will be presented with the Ragball European Cup in their respective categories and they will be flown to the Munich Beer Festival in October. The trip will include flights, accommodation, reserved tables at the festival and a match against a local side.

If you would like to enter a team at Milebush Park Castlebar or to request an information pack please contact your local co-ordinator, Therese McLoughlin: 086 388 9145. www.ragball.ie
