The official opening of Gorthaganny School is taking place at 2pm on Thursday September 24. This is as a result of substantial structural work carried out on the school, which was completed earlier this year. It will be a very big day for the area and this region of the west of Ireland.
The school is being officially opened by Dermot Early, Chief of Staff of the Irish Army. Also present will be Minister for Education Batt O’Keeffe, Bishop Jones, all local councillors, TDs, past pupils and teachers, etc. At present it is a four teacher school with approximately 106 children from 70 families. You can imagine it will be a big family day and a very important day for the area.
