Training for the U18 team commences on Wednesday September 10 at 7pm in Cloondeash. Training for the U14 team commences on Wednesday September 17 at 7pm in Cloondeash. Subscription for the year is €75 and includes a jacket and polo shirt. New and returning players are welcome.
Castlebar play Cavan next Saturday afternoon in Cloondeash in the Larry Burke Cup. This cup commemorates Larry Burke of Springfield, a member of a long established Castlebar family, who played for Cavan. He worked for the Inland Fisheries in Cavan and after his untimely death this competition was launched in his memory and is played each year alternately in Cavan and Castlebar as a pre-season fixture. Larry’s son, also named Larry, plays with Cavan and a large crowd is expected in Cloondeash for this fixture. The lotto draw was held on Friday night in Mick Byrne’s Bar on Friday night September 5. The jackpot is now € 10,000. There was no jackpot winner. The match three winners in the lotto were: Ian Fanning, Dr Peter Staunton, Miriam Walshe, John Gibbons. Annual lotto tickets are currently available from club committee members.
