Ballina based Fianna Fáil Councillor Annie May Reape has urged organisations planning an anti-litter awareness project to apply for a Mayo County Council grant towards their campaign.
Submissions are now being invited from community groups, residents’ associations, schools, Tidy Town committees and other organisations who are interested in receiving funding to co-fund public education and awareness initiatives against litter or graffiti.
A whole host of hard-working organisations and associations are diligently campaigning on the issue of litter awareness and this is an opportunity for them to receive funding towards their efforts.
“It is a most worthwhile initiative and I urge such organisations to seek funding,” she said.
Application forms are available from the Environment Section of Mayo County Council or online at www.mayococo.ie and the closing date for submission of applications is Friday September 19.
