Triple bill of plays from Other Voices

Westport’s Other Voices theatre company is back with We Are for the Dark, an exciting new triple-bill of one-act plays at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday August 27 at 8pm.

The Bright Day is Done, is a new play by Gerald Wilson, in which a young man comes to interview an ageing actress and inveigles her into recreating some of her most acclaimed roles - but all is not what it seems. Featuring Rebecca Wilson and Wez Locke, directed by Gerald Wilson.

The Baglady by Frank McGuinness, in which a baglady confronts — and is confronted by — the abused child she once was. Featuring Mary Ryan and Eithne McGreal, directed by Rebecca Wilson.

The Jewish Wife by Bertolt Brecht; set in 1935 in Germany, a Jewish wife packs her bags in a universal motif of tragedy: Every day someone, somewhere, is packing a bag or making a bundle. Featuring Saskia Eland and Wez Locke, directed by Gerald Wilson.

Based in Westport, Gerald and Rebecca Wilson have been a mainstay of drama in Mayo for many years, presenting top quality contemporary theatre that is ambitious, thoughtful, and compelling. This triple bill promises to be no exception, and is described as “the kaleidoscope of life on display: The gaudy colours and brass trumpets of youth, the muffled drum of age, fear amid the tumult of history.” Don’t miss Westport’s finest in action. Other Voices presents We Are for the Dark at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday August 27 at 8pm. Booking is advised on 094 9023733.
