Dirty Epics to play the Fáilte Suite this weekend

Upcoming Irish group Dirty Epics take to the stage at The Fáilte Suite, Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar, this Saturday night (August 8 ) as part of the Finbar Hoban Presents…series in association with Coastal Beats in Aid of The Mayo Rape Crisis Centre.

Support on the night will come from The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra and local Castlebar band Orphan Alien. Castletown’s finest The Hardy Bucks will be doing compere on the night and rumour has it that The Viper himself maybe even performing a DJ set! plus there will be a late bar on the night.

Dirty Epics have being very busy recently with appearances on The Raw Sessions — a sort of alternative X Factor where a select group of up and coming Irish bands such as Dirty Epics along with RSAG and the Infomatics are sent into various studios to write and record a song from scratch and the winning bands going forward into a live final to become Sony Eriksson’s Artist of the Year.

They have just played the Friday night at Oxygen and their set went down a storm with camping revellers. Fronted by the irrepressible Sarah Jane Wai Oflynn. Dirty Epics’ raunchy rock sound and vigourous performances have seen them lauded as one of Ireland’s most thrilling new bands. Their debut album Straight In No Kissing received rave reviews last year and their groundbreaking appearance at Oxygen three weeks ago saw them enhance their reputation even further.

Support act The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra are from Limerick, their music is a blend of warm vocals harmonies and classy instrumentation. Their ear-catching melodies are desperately hard to categorise yet strangely easy to love. Arresting musicality coupled with dark, wry wit. The very well-dressed Brad Pitt Light Orchestra produce an unmissable vibrant life affirming, live experience. Having had a busy 08/09 so far playing festivals such as The Electric Picnic and the Flatlake festival, The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra caught the attention of both Paul Mcloone and Alison Curtis from Today FM with their joyful winter single “December”.

They went on to record a session for the Mcloone show, and when Alison Curtis was interviewed earlier this year for The Irish Times she tipped them as one to watch in 2009.

Local act Orphan Alien hailing from Castlebar will bring their own blend of rock music to the Fáilte Suite. The band was put together by lead frontman Shane Cunningham, with Adrian Ryan aka “Ryo” on lead guitars and Damien McHale on bass. The lads have been busy writing their own material and will be showcasing these new tracks next Saturday night.

The Hardy Bucks will entertain the crowd in between the live bands in what promises to be a great night of comedy and live original music in Castlebar. Admission to the event is €15 and doors open at 10pm.
