A licensee of a bar in Hollymount was convicted and fined €250 at Ballinrobe District Court sitting in Castlebar last Friday after a number of people were heard on the premises at 4.30am.
Garda Colin Murrin outlined that on April 13 this year at 4.30am he heard a number of voices coming from inside Finnerty’s Bar, Hollymount, which is licensed to Michael Finnerty. Garda Murrin said that he knocked on the door of the premies and announced that he was a member of the gardaí, however no one answered the door. That evening at 6pm, the garda spoke with Finnerty, who explained that he was not working the night before, but his brother was.
The court heard that Finnerty had a previous conviction for allowing underage people on the premises. Judge Mary Devins imposed the maximum fine for the first offence of having people on the premises past closing time— €250.
