A Kiltimagh man was given a 28-day prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to a drink driving charge after he was caught just a month after beginning a driving ban.
Supt Willie Keaveney told Castlebar District Court that Gardaí responded to a call that a man was driving while intoxicated at Corrib Oil, Castlebar. Gardaí found Martin McDonnagh, 5 Mountain View, Cordarragh, Kiltimagh at the scene and brought him to Castlebar Garda Station where he gave a breath sample which returned a reading of 80mgs per 100mls of breath, he also failed to produce a driving licence and insurance.
The court was also told that McDonnagh had a number of road traffic convictions previously. Judge Mary Devins convicted and fined him €1,000, disqualified him from driving for six years and sentenced him to 28 days in prison for drink driving. For having no insurance she convicted and fined him €1,000 and disqualified him from driving for two years concurrent and sentenced him to 28 days in prison to be served concurrently
