Sporting fun in Westport in August

Gaelforce 6 is set to return for its fourth year of action, this August 22 and 23, with already some 2,350 athletes signed up.

The GF6 adventure challenge will follow last year’s 65km course from Little Killary in Galway back to Westport, via a kayaking leg on Killary Harbour and an ascent and descent of the mighty Croagh Patrick.

This year the event organisers have planned the biggest after party to date with two great tribute bands – Ded Hot Chilli Peppers and Bon Giovi—open to both competitors and locals at Westport House. Tickets are priced at €17.50 if you buy online on www.gaelforcewest.ie, before the event, or €25 on the day.

Mayo Sports Partnership has also announced that it is planning to run a festival of Sport Fun Day on the South Mall of Westport on Sunday August 23. The event promises to be full of fun activities such as the family sports challenge (incorporating 12 different sports ), water sports, demonstrations, bouncy castle/fun inflatables, walking challenges, street orienteering, inclusive games, and the fourth Annual Mayo Team Challenge.
