Man lost teeth after being struck in face

An 18-year-old man who in an unprovoked attack struck another man twice in the face was before Castlebar District Court on Wednesday.

At a houseparty in Ballyglass on November 16 2008, David Monaghan was struck in his face by Coleman Boyle, Main Street, Balla. Mr Monaghan lost a tooth from this blow and while he searched for his tooth Boyle struck him again, which resulted in the loss of three more teeth.

Defending solicitor, Charles Gilmartin, said that Boyle had consumed alcohol that night and that these actions were “uncharacteristic” of him. Judge Mary Devins adjourned matters to October 21 for a probation report.
