A retail manager from Ballina who parked her Audi in a clearway in front of a private residence was disqualified from driving for six months by Judge Mary Devins at Ballina District Court this week.
On February 22 this year, Garda John Barrett received a complaint that a blue Audi A3 was blocking a clearway on Tone Street, Ballina. Garda Barrett contacted the owner — Amanda Robinson, 75 Childers Heights, Ballina — who moved the car, but did not pay a fixed penalty notice for the incident.
Robinson, who represented herself, said that she parked her car there overnight as she was late to meet friends.
Judge Devins convicted and fined the defendant €250 and disqualified her from driving.
