Westport train services to expand

Following on from a report that punctuality on the Westport line is running at a high of 96 per cent, Iarnród Éireann have said that services to and from Westport are set to expand later this year with the roll out of the new Intercity railcar fleet.

A spokesperson for Iarnród Éireann said: “As well as dramatic improvements in quality and comfort, and on many routes’ frequency on our Intercity network, we are now also delivering the highest standards of punctuality. This is yet another reason for customers to switch to rail.”

Quality, comfort, frequency, and punctuality are also being complemented by the best fares ever for customers booking by web at irishrail.ie Fares on routes such as Dublin-Westport are available from €15 each way. The spokesperson continued: “We aim to maintain and further improve our punctuality and speeds on our network. We are transforming our rail services, to deliver the best possible rail system for this and future generations.”
