Mayo promoted as ideal holiday destination

A new tourism initiative, promoting great value deals for holidays in the west of Ireland, reached some one million newspaper readers around Great Britain at the weekend.

Approximately 1.3 million copies of a new eight-page supplement were distributed in national newspapers, including The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph (Saturday edition ) and The Herald, highlighting the tremendous value for money available for holidays in the west of Ireland this summer. The supplement promoted 50 great value deals, including offers for the Park Inn Mulranny and the Carlton Atlantic Coast Hotel in Westport.

Niall Gibbons, newly appointed chief executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “This year, it is more competitive than ever before in the Great Britain market and, naturally enough, value and price are absolutely critical for the consumer. Tourism Ireland is placing significant emphasis on value for money offers, to drive home to GB consumers our message about the superb range of offers available in the west and around the island of Ireland.”
