Minister for Labour Affairs, Dara Calleary has welcomed the provision of flashing lights at Behymore National School on the outskirts of Ballina. The road safety measures were recently installed on the main thoroughfares to the school providing much needed traffic calming in the vicinity of the school.
“I am delighted that Behymore National School now have their flashing lights in place. There is an issue with space at the entrance/exit of the school and the provision of the lights will go some way towards ensuring the calm and safe stop-off and pick-up of students coming to and going from the school,” said Minister Calleary.
“I would like to pay tribute to my Fianna Fáil colleagues Cllr Annie May Reape [Mayo County Council] and Cllr Johnnie O’Malley [Ballina Town Council] who were not only instrumental in securing the flashing lights but who also provided the allocation of funds for the resurfacing of an extensive stretch of the main Behy Road which had been in a state of disrepair for an extended period of time. Both of these improvements will make a huge difference to all users of the Behy Road, both school going and the general Behy and Corrimbla community,” concluded Calleary.
