Lake District athletes head to Tullamore for All Ireland weekend

The Lake District athletes had yet another busy weekend in Tullamore competing in the Juvenile All Irelands Day 1 and the Juvenile B All Irelands. Competing on Saturday last was Eoin Jennings, Ryan McCormack, Liam Lynch, David Marrey and Grace Jennings. Eoin Jennings and Ryan McCormack competed in the U15 Boys Javelin and both represented their club and gained invaluable experience on the national stage.

David Marrey finished fourth in the U19 Boys High Jump with a solid performance. Liam Lynch was up next in the U18 Boys Javelin and competing in difficult conditions with a head wind finished third to earn his first All-Ireland medal of the year! Grace Jennings had a stand out performance having to run in the 800m heats finishing first to qualify for the final. Just two hours later she had to run in the final finishing sixth overall with a very strong performance.

Following the success of Saturday up next was Feilim O’Connor, Keane Hughes, Isabella Hughes and Ciobha Reilly at the Juvenile All Ireland B Championships. Feilim raced in the U12 60m and finished fourth in his heat with a very strong performance. Keane was up next in the U14 Boys 800m and faced stiff competition finishing fifth in his heat and finishing 11th overall. Ciobha was in the U14 girls 800m and put in a very strong last 200m to finish fifth in her heat and 12th overall. Isabella had a very busy day competing in both the 100m and Long Jump. Isabella qualified from the heats to make the final and finished sixth overall. Up next was her long jump where she finished with a new personal best and was fourth in the competition. A very busy and successful weekend for the Lake District athletes and everyone at LDAC is very proud of them. Up next is day two and three of the All-Ireland Championships on July 22 and 23.
