A Claremorris man who gardaí saw overtaking a van on a continuous white line while approaching a bend was before Judge Denis McLoughlin at Belmullet District Court on Wednesday.
Garda Amanda Cunningham explained that on February 26 2009 while driving from Bangor to Belmullet she saw a silver Golf travelling in the opposite direction overtaking on a continuous white line.
Declan Corbett, Rosstigue, Carnacon, Claremorris, was stopped by gardaí. The tax has expired on the vehicle.
According to solicitor Aidan Crowley, Corbett overtook the van as it had indicated to turn left and the expired tax on the vehicle was because the defendant, who is an electrician, usually drives a van.
Corbett was convicted and fined €150.
