Fifth year students in St Joseph’s Community College Charlestown are hosting a tea day fundraiser for Motor Neuron Disease (MND ) on Monday, March 27th from 11am to 1pm at St. Joseph's Community College Hall as part of their St. Vincent de Paul Youth for Justice Project.

Motor Neuron Disease is a debilitating condition that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling movement, speech, and breathing. There is currently no cure for MND, and treatment options are limited.

The event aims to raise awareness and funds for MND research and support services. Members of the community are invited to join the fundraiser, enjoy a cup of tea and delicious treats, and donate to the cause.

"We wanted to do something meaningful to support those affected by MND," said Mrs Stacey McDermott, teacher. "We hope this event will raise awareness and funds for research and support services and bring the community together for a good cause."

The SVP Youth for Justice Project programme encourages young people and Young SVP groups to get involved in their local communities, improve the lives of others, and gain a better understanding of SVP and social justice.

"We are proud to support the fifth years and the SVP Youth for Justice Project in their efforts to raise funds for this wonderful cause,” said Mr. John Bones, Acting Principal, St. Joseph's Community College. "We invite everyone to join us for a cup of tea and help us raise funds for a cause that affects so many people."
