Boys of '55 relive Ballinrobe CBS days and life thereafter

Class reunions have been de rigeur for some time now, but the idea of putting together the story of the lives of those you shared school with is an equally fascinating project.

Past pupils of the Ballinrobe CBS class of 1950-1955 have put together a book sharing their memories of their school days and lives thereafter.

From the class of 40, they spread far and wide over the world, but equally fascinating are the tales of those who went on to play major roles in their local community.

Interspersed with stories of life and happiness and tragedy, this is a pot pourri of the realities of life told within the pages of a wonderful publication. It tells the story of its time and how options were limited for those who left the school in those years.

This is a great piece of local and social history (and an ideal stocking-filler ) and should be on the gift list of every Ballinrobe person this Chriostmas.

The book was launched last night (Thursday ) in The Bowers restaurant, Abbey St, Ballinrobe. It is on sale in Martin Murphy's, Main Street, Ballinrobe.
