There will be a number of battles for votes over the coming weeks in the lead up to the 2022 Mayo GAA Convention, which will take place in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on December 11, following the close of nominations last Sunday.
At the very top of the ticket there will be no change, with current chairperson Seamus Tuohy unopposed after he completed his first year in the role, Con Moynihan will also be returned unopposed as the vice-chairperson.
The position of secretary will see current vice-secretary Ronan Kirrane from Davitts going up against Mary Prenty from Ballyhauis for the role, which will be vacated by Dermot Butler after he completed his five year term in the role. There will also be a contest for the vice-secretary position with Celia Rattigan from Breaffy and Brian O'Malley from The Neale in for the role.
Treasurer Valerie Murphy will be unopposed for the position she olds as will assistant-treasurer, Michael Diskin. John Walker will remain as county board PRO, Declan O'Reilly as coaching officer, and Grainne Kelly-Frayne as cultural officer with all three the only nominees.
There will be a number of contests for the roles in representing Mayo at both provincial and national level on the ballot paper in Claremorris, with Liam Moffatt, Paul Cunnane and Willie Feely all looking for one of the two Connacht Council delegate positions. Out going secretary Dermot Butler will be competing against sitting Central Council delegate Paddy McNicholas for that position.
