Foxford Childcare Ltd and Footsteps Childcare in Kilkelly are celebrating this week after the announcement of funding of €650,000 and €550,000 respectively.
Minister for Labour Affairs Dara Calleary TD made the announcement last Thursday following a period of intense lobbying and campaigning.
“I am delighted to have been in a position to aid the application process for both Foxford Childcare Ltd and Footsteps Childcare in Kilkelly.
“The National Childcare Investment Programme, under Minister for Children Barry Andrews, has looked favourably upon both applications with substantial funding forthcoming for both centres,” said Calleary.
The funding for Foxford Childcare Ltd will used to construct a state-of-the-art purpose built public community crèche and childcare facility at a site adjacent to the national school.
“I am delighted for the committee involved and wish to pay tribute to Cllr Jimmy Maloney for his input into the application process.
“Footsteps Childcare will be using their substantial allocation to refurbish their premises at Swinford Road, Kilkelly. Again I wish to pay tribute to everyone involved in securing the grant including local election candidate John Caulfield,” he said.
“This is another example of the government’s commitment to providing quality childcare facilities in Mayo,” concluded Minister Calleary.
