Coláiste Muire, Tourmakeady, is to benefit from a new science laboratory now that the Department of Education and Science has agreed to provide funding to the school.
The decision has been welcomed by Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny who has raised the issue in the Dáil on numerous occasions because of the inadequate facilities that existed at Coláiste Muire.
Deputy Kenny said: “I welcome the decision by the Department of Education and Science to provide a grant of €153,000 towards the provision of a new science laboratory in Coláiste Muire. The management and students at Coláiste Muire have waited for this facility for long enough, and have been appealing for this very necessary additional resource to their school for quite a long time, and this decision will come as a boost for the school and the students.”
