Iompar Maigh Eo, a newly set up sustainable transport group for Mayo, is affiliated with the National Walking and Cycling Campaign (www.cycle.ie ) and developing strategies on how simple improvements can be implemented to existing roads and public transport systems to provide locals, and tourists alike, with the option of using sustainable transport in Mayo.
Iompar Cathair na Mart, the Westport section of Iompar Maigh Eo, will meet to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the sustainable transport options for Westport on Tuesday June 23 in the Clew Bay Hotel at 8pm and wish to encourage interested members of the public to attend. Iompar Maigh Eo will also lobby for integrated systems of public transport allowing users to travel comfortably by train, bus, bicycle, and by foot on the one journey, whether from town to town, from home to work/school, or from tourist attraction to tourist attraction.
