Funding sanctioned for Mayo Volunteer Centre

An announcement of €60,768 funding for the Mayo Volunteer Centre has been welcomed by Claremorris Fianna Fáil candidate Gerard McHale.

The primary role of the centre is to match members of the public interested in volunteering with local community organisations seeking volunteers.

“Over the last number of years, the Government has sought to encourage the dynamism of volunteers and communities working together, and has prioritised significant new resources in support of this,” said Mr McHale.

This funding will help to support volunteer centres at 21 locations around the country including the Mayo Volunteer Centre.

“The funding of these centres as well as the new volunteer policy measures will help create and enable an environment where volunteering can flourish,” concluded Mr McHale
