Four community groups in Mayo are set to receive €99,250 under Measures 1 of the 2022 CLÁR programme.
The four projects in Mayo to receive funding under this measure are; (1 ) Ballinrobe Walkway Project - €29,500 to erect fencing around the green area of town park, (2 ) Crossmolina Community Council - €11,250 to develop a community cinema in the civic arts centre, (3 ) Carnacon Community Development - €9,000 to upgrade works on the community centre and (4 ) Swinford Amenity Development CLG (€49,500 ) to enhance the carpark surface, drainage and road marking at the Swinford amenity park.
Deputy Michael Ring stated: "CLÁR (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais ) is a targeted investment programme for rural areas that aims to provide funding for small infrastructural projects in rural areas that have experienced significant levels of de-population. This targeted investment can reap huge rewards for communities"
Deputy Alan Dillon said: "I am very pleased that these very worthwhile projects in Mayo have been funded under the CLÁR Measure 1 programme which supports the development of facilities and amenities within rural areas.
"The CLÁR Programme in Mayo has been very beneficial and demonstrates that investment in rural communities can make a big difference to improving the quality of life for the people who live in these communities."
Senator Lisa Chambers added: "These projects are hugely important to our local communities. It is important that as a Government we continue to invest in Rural Ireland in as many ways as possible, the Clár program is a fantastic way that we can continue to do this."
