Ballyheane retained their Super League title on the penultimate day of the season to claim back-to-back league wins last weekend following a 4-2 win over Westport United in Quigley Park.
At the bottom of the table Claremorris and Ballyhaunis Town's fate was also sealed last weekend when they were relegated to the Premier Division for next season, following Glenhest Rovers 7-1 win over Straide and Foxford United confirmed their place in the top division for next season.
The champions had only needed a point to ensure they retained the title, but the made sure they did it in style by hitting four goals on their way to victory.
They hit the front early on through a Sean Kilcoyne penalty after Ben Edeh was hauled down on his way to goal. They added two more goals before the break through Nathan Reilly-Doyle and Dan Purcell to get the celebrations going in Quigley Park. The champions went four goals clear when Cillian Redmond pushed the ball home from close range after a corner.
The visitors did pull two goals back Darren Browne and Aaron Cannon, but the game was done and dusted at that stage as the hosts were counting down until the full time whistle and their crowning as Super League champions for another year.
Glenhest Rovers ensured their place in the top division for next year ahead of the final round of fixtures when they saw off Straide and Foxford United 7-1, the Green Road side were only able to field eight players for the game. Keith Mulchrone hit two for Rovers with Paul McLoughlin, Cathal Chambers, Ethan Barrett, Eoin McNulty and Mark Forestal all getting a goal each.
Claremorris did their bit to try and stay up with a 3-2 win over Kiltimagh-Knock United on the road, but it was in vain as Glenhest Rovers win had already sealed their fate to the drop for next season. The goals for Claremorris came from Joe Slevin, Rokas Mikckis and Simon Butler in that win.
Ballina Town saw off Manulla 4-1 in the other top fight game last weekend with a brace of goals coming from Jamie Cawley and Benny Lavelle and Conor Gorman getting one each.
In the Premier Division Crossmolina wrapped up their second league and cup double in as many years with their 11-0 win over Killala that sees them head to the Super League as champions. Niall Coggins hit five goals with Kevin Campbell scoring two and the other goals coming from Shane Hennigan, Ian Gordon, Vlad Gordetskyy and Shane McKinley.
Conn Rangers finished two points behind Crossmolina in the finals standings, they wrapped up their league season with a 7-1 win away to Kiltimagh-Knock United B last weekend - but will still be looking forward to Super League football next season after securing promotion back up to the top division alongside the champions Crossmolina.
In League Two Castlebar Celtic B will be short favourites to life the the league title this weekend when they host Conn Rangers C, the hoops had to come from behind last weekend to see off Partry Athletic 2-1 to go pick up the points. They are two points head of Claremorris B who will be facing third placed Ballyheane B this weekend.
Claremorris B need to win if they are to have any chance of catching Celtic at the top of the standings to claim the league title. But is also a big game for Ballyheane B who are in the third promotion spot at the moment with Partry just two points behind them and if Claremorris B see off Ballyheane B it could see Partry leap frog them into third place in the standings if Partry can beat the Ballyvary Blue Bombers.
